Jita newsletter Q3 2019
Gold, enterprise, DeFi, quantum, AI, MPC
this is Jita Q3 2019 newsletter.
Giving you a summary of the main trends of this quarter, and sharing our perspective.
We hope you like it!
How much volume will gold tokens attract?
Will 2020 be the year of security tokens?
AI and blockchain - a winning combination?
Quantum supremacy - fact or fiction?
MPC - a cryptography breakthrough?
Exchanges, brokers and wallets are diversifying assets by adding support for gold. Among others, B2C2 and blockchain.com launched GOLD-BTC trading. Tradewind is offering gold traceability solution built on R3 Corda and works with Royal Mint of Canada.
More and more development and interest in equity tokens. While the industry seems focused on the institutional side, we could be surprised by the potential on the retail side. Will security bond tokens be next? Contact us for more info on this.
Blockchain development and artificial intelligence
Continued demand for security audits proves that many teams have been building and getting ready for launch new products. There is a lot of interest for blockchain and artificial intelligence. Blockchain enables trusted data, while artificial intelligence creates new value from that trusted data.
Quantum Cryptography - “quantum supremacy”
Google made the news this quarter with the concept of quantum supremacy. IBM Research downplayed its significance. This caused some concern as computer security, from e-commerce to blockchain, relies on the near-impossibility for computers to solve some mathematical problems. In the short and medium term, it seems current cryptographic algorithms are still secure. For more info, you can read our interview on quantum proofs blockchains in New Monetary Review from January 2019.
Multi Party Computation
This intriguing new cryptographic technology is getting more and more traction. Well funded startups are building a new MPC based infrastructure, while others are offering Software as a Service API solutions. MPC is an evolution over S4 multi sig in which the key is not only stored but also used by different parties. It is the result of the computations that is assembled together. This increases overall system security at a cost of increased system and operational complexity. Contact us for more info on MPC.
We will be at Web Summit in Lisbon Nov 4-8 and BlockShow Singapore November 13-16. Schedule a meeting!
